At the June 28, 2012, meeting of the Alexandria Rotary Club, 2011-12 President Rachel Barduson concluded a successful year and handed the gavel to incoming President Patty Peterson. The international theme for the upcoming Rotary year is Peace through Service. Following the transfer of power, the membership divided into committee groups to conduct a planning assembly for the coming year.
